GEMSTONES: Beauty, Healing & Protection
Since ancient times, humankind have been fascinated with gemstones, crystals, pearls and naturally occurring stones, due in part to the depth of their natural beauty and richness of colour, and in part for their health benefits.
The Romans believed them to be splinters of falling stars. Aristotle considered them to be the tears of the gods. The ancient Egyptians used stones for beauty enhancement, protection and health. And, according to historic Hindu texts gemstones are invaluable to counteracting the effects of negative planetary movements and karma. Advanced practitioners of yoga identify a link between their practice and wearing gemstones, to connect to a higher conciseness, particularly during meditation.
In modern times, many celebrities have talked about the positive power of gemstones in their personal and professional lives. Most notably Adele, David & Victoria Beckham, Heidi Pratt, Katy Perry, Kate Hudson, members of the Kardashian clan, and many others. Gemstones are said to have helped them in enhancing their career success, as well as disperse numerous health benefits. While there is no formal science to back the power of gemstones healing, or curing conditions, they are found to induce a sense of relaxation & general wellbeing.
Alternative medicine experts believe that since gemstones (fossilised minerals), are all naturally extracted, they harness the energies of the sun, moon, and oceans (all-natural healing energies) to improve our well being. When you wear or place these unique stones close to your body, they interact with the body's chakras and promotes physical and mental wellness.
If you’ve been practicing yoga, you’ve likely come across the chakras. You might know they have something to do with the energetic body, but what exactly are they? The chakras are a system of energy centers that form part of our subtle body. We cannot see these energetic centers, but we can feel their effects as each one plays a particular and essential role in our health and wellbeing.
The chakras originated in India and have been mentioned in several ancient Hindi texts, including the Vedas and the Upanishads. Chakra is a Sanskrit word meaning “wheel,” as it is said that the energy of the chakras spins and turns like a wheel.
Natural stones, crystals and gemstones have a particular vibration and frequency, which arise from their molecular composition. From the way they move and interact, these vibrations and energies interact with our chakras in benefiting and uplifting our mood, mind, and health in noticeable ways, similar to the way essential oils and aromatherapy work. They absorb negative energies and welcome fresh positive vibes.
